Don Gibson

The CMA has announced an
unprecedented number of Country Music Hall Of Fame inductees-outlaw king
Waylon Jennings, singer/songwriter “Whispering Bill Anderson, and Elvis
Presley record producer Sam Phillips. The dozens honorees include 10
special inductees and two new members normally scheduled to be inducted
for 2001. The special inductees are; Jennings, Webb Pierce, The Everly
Brothers, Don Gibson, The louvin Brothers, Homer & Jethro, The
Jordanaires, Don Law, The Delmore Brothers, and Ken Nelson. Anderson and
Phillips are the regular 2001 inductees. Formal induction for the group
will take place during special ceremonies at a dinner Oct 4 in Nashville.
The Honorees will also be recognized during the nationally televised 35th
Annual CMA Awards show Nov. 7, 2001

and Fans Jam The Street To Open The Shining New Hall Of Fame

Two Generations of stars and
thousands of fans gathered in downtown Nashville for a gala celebration
the opining of the new Country Music Hall Of Fame and Museum. The party
began as George Jones, Kitty Wells and Bill Anderson joined Trisha
Yearwood, Pam Tills, Martin McBride and dozens more walked the ceremonial
red carpet. Music soon filled the air as Vince Gill wowed the throng with
“The Key Of Life” Marty Stuart led stars past and present in “Will
The Circle Be Unbroken” Charley Pride and Brenda Lee cut the ceremonial
red ribbon – signaling that country’s new shrine was now open for
business. “This place we can all be proud of !” raved Ricky Skaggs.
